I find the life of John Cage and his work that occupied himself to be very fascinating and quite monumental. John Cage serves as a pivotal artist of 1900's who took music and changed it forever. What John Cage did for music is just like how many revolutionary artists changed the fine art world forever like Picasso, Basquiat, Warhol, and even Banksy. I have a lot of respect for him for many reasons. The main reason I find Cage to be motivational is because he took something that seemed like you couldn't change it (music) and shaped it into an entirely new and different form. For Cage, music didn't have to be a pleasing composition of sounds it just had to be a composition of any sound. To him, even silence could be music. Thinking outside the box is something I like to incorporate when creating art of my own. What John did for the music world paved it to be the way it is today. For example, Techno and dance music can almost be entirely credited to him for his belief that music did not have to just be singing. The reason that makes me believe that John Cage is such an influential human is because of how he has influenced so many other composers and artists to perform the piece 4:33 even to this day. What makes him an even bigger and better artist is the fact that people doubted his obscurity but he didn't listen and stuck to what he believed was art/music.
