After reading the text about the history of internet art, many things caught my eye. How the term net.art came to be is very fascinating to me since it was merely an accident. I like how net.art became a home/community for fellow artists all around the world. I also like the message behind how all the people that came together in certain online communities are seen as part of the overall project. In the reading it compares these online communities to Andy Warhol's factory which shows that all the people who contribute to the overall production/distribution are equal. It is also very interesting to see the where the creators of these popular sites are today and how they have progressed as artists. For example, Benjamin Weil, the creator of Ada'web is now the curator of media arts at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. I can't help but to compare this to the current art world. With the emergence of new forms of art such as NFTs, it is very possible this could be the start of a whole new medium of art. Artists are just learning about the world of NFTs just like how they did when net.art was emerging. It was also very interesting to see how easy it is for people to fake their identity via the internet and take ownership for things that aren't theirs. Overall, I really liked learning more about internet art since digital art is so popular in our current day. Net.art ultimately paved the way for artists and ultimately any form of digital art.
